WHY I JOINED KIWANISI retired in 2022 and began strength training at my church. During that time, my workout partner, Kiwanian Bob White, and I started talking about Kiwanis, and I was immediately interested. I wanted to give back to my community.I originally studied pre-primary education at Framingham State College before becoming a Merchant Mariner. In retirement, I considered volunteering or substitute teaching in elementary schools. Joining Kiwanis of Big Lagoon felt like the perfect way to serve—supporting children while staying active and engaged in the community. It has been a rewarding decision. Our club has a talented membership, strong veteran leadership, and a mission-driven commitment to helping children. I’m grateful for the responsibilities entrusted to me and for the opportunity to serve. Becoming a Kiwanian has brought purpose and fulfillment to my life, and I believe this path was meant for me.
